Arezzo has a vast naturalistic and artistic heritage in an extraordinarily concentrated area. Piazza Grande, with the Vasari Lodges and the Fraternità dei Laici building, the S. Maria Parish Church, with the bell tower, the Duomo and the S. Francesco cathedral with the frescoes by Piero della Francesca. The Medici Fortress on the hill of S. Donato is definitely worth a visit. Arezzo is a city where ancient traditions vibrate, one way to live them can be to visit it during the penultimate Saturday of June or the first Sunday of September, when Piazza Grande becomes the scenario of the Giostra del Saracino. More frequent is the monthly appointment with the Antiques Fair (first weekend of the month) when the main square and the historic centre fill up of stands and people. Not only the city of Arezzo, but also the province is full of villages and castles that deserve a visit such as Lucignano, Cortona, Anghiari and San Sepolcro.
