The Val d'Orcia region: 105 km from San Gimignano

The Val d'Orcia region delights the eyes of visitors with spectacular landscapes and fascinates with its numerous medieval villages, in particular, Pienza, Montalcino (Montisi, a small village with one of the smallest theaters in Europe with only 52 seats) and Montepulciano. Crossed by the Orcia river, this splendid area of southern Tuscany extends along the provinces of Siena and Grosseto. Pienza enjoys a strategic position on the top of a hill, dominating the whole valley. It is located about 20 km east of Montalcino and a few km west of Montepulciano, among rolling hills and wonderful natural landscapes. Do not miss also San Quirico d'Orcia, Rocca d'Orcia and Bagni Vignoni with its thermal waters.
